Our goal is to protect staff and make Defenders of Wildlife a better, safer, and fairer place to work
We are doing this by using various hard-won legal protections and tools to elevate workers' concerns and wishes and empower our staff. Through collective bargaining, union-eligible employees are able to pursue our concerns as equals to Leadership. Through almost a year of organizing, we have found that the vast majority of eligible staff wanted unionization and the protections it provides to advocate for changes.

our main priorities
We strive to reach a fair Collective Bargaining Agreement that ensures:
• A voice in decisions on wages and working conditions, including a safe return to office transition
• Protections from unjust terminations
• Meaningful and consistent integration of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice into Defenders’ programs and operations
• Clearer and more transparent disciplinary procedures
• A process for safely providing upward feedback and addressing grievances
• Better benefits such as hybrid-work flexibility, more inclusive family leave, retirement, healthcare, and sick leave
